Seattle and Oakland begin a three-game series in the bay area. The Mariners come in reeling after dropping four of five to the Angels and Oakland is coming off of a series loss to Kansas City which has them positioned as the worst team in the AL.

The A’s are going with James Kaprielian on the mound while Seattle will run out the lefty Marco Gonzales.

Mariners vs. Athletics Prediction and Pick

Not only do the Oakland A’s have the worst record in the majors, they also have the worst offensive numbers in the league and besides Detroit, it is not particularly close. The team is last in OPS, last in on base percentage, second to last in slugging, and second to last in home runs.

They have been a complete disaster at the plate and their pitching staff is ranked 24th in team ERA. They are not too much better on that side either. James Kaprielian has a 6.31 ERA this year, an abysmal 1.42 K/BB ratio, and has given up 10 home runs in nine starts. The A’s have lost his last three times out.

Seattle is not exactly riding high, getting shut out in its last two games against a Los Angeles pitching staff that has not been the toast of the town lately. Outside of its 8-1 win in that five game series, the Seattle offense has not managed more than two runs in its last six games.

Offense will be scarce in this one, but Seattle has a much better chance of producing any runs.

Pick: Under 8.5 (-105) Mariners -136
