Mariners vs. Orioles Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, May 31 (Seattle a Strong Bet on the Road Against Baltimore)
By Matt De Saro
The Seattle Mariners look to win their second series in a row when they kick off a nine-game road trip at Camden Yards. The Baltimore Orioles, meanwhile, head home after an eight-game road trip in which they got beat a bit by the Yankees and Red Sox. But things didn’t go as bad as they could and Baltimore took one game from the Yankees in the Bronx and a few from Boston at Fenway.
Now they get a chance to play an equally bad team but get to do it on their home turf. The 20-29 O’s actually have a winning record at home of 12-11. Baltimore has an edge on the splits over the M’s who are 8-18 on the road. Which of these struggling franchises is able to start this series off on top? Let’s get into it.

Mariners vs. Orioles Prediction and Pick
These two teams match up quite well despite their terrible seasons. This makes predicting this game a bit tricky. To make matters worse, the Orioles have yet to announce a starter for Tuesday so we’re left with a half of a puzzle to make a call on. At least the pitcher that we do know, Seattle’s George Kirby, has been pretty consistent this year. Kirby will be making his fifth start of the year for the Mariners with an 0-1 record, 4.50 ERA, and 1.25 WHIP. His 20 innings is a small sample size but he appears to be a solid 4-5 starter on most teams.
I think Kirby has a good shot to shut down a pretty terrible Baltimore offense on the other side. The Orioles rank 25th in batting average, 26th in runs per game, and 26ths in strikeouts per game. The only offensive stat on TeamRankings that they rank better than 20th is hit by pitchers per game. So there’s that.
The O’s also have terrible pitching stats with an ERA of 4.10 and WHIP of 1.33. I don’t see a name on this pitching staff that makes me want to bet the Orioles here. I think the Mariners will march into Camden Yards and take one from the Orioles.
