Mariners vs. Rangers Prediction and Pick for Sunday, July 17 (Value on Total)
By Reed Wallach
The Mariners ferocious run to the top of the Al Wild Card has been a sight to behold.
Led by AL Rookie of the Year favorite Julio Rodriguez (-350 at consensus sportsbooks), the Mariners have surged past the crowded group of AL East foes into the top spot for the AL Wild Card. Now, they finish their first half of the season with a matchup against the floundering Rangers, who hang under .500.
Can Seattle get another win to keep the momentum going into the All-Star break? Here are the odds from consensus sportsbooks:
Mariners vs. Rangers Odds, Run Line, Total

- Rangers: +1.5 (-135)
Moneyline:
- Mariners: -140

Mariners vs. Rangers Prediction and Pick
Tough to stand in front of the Seattle train right now, who has found their rhythm and has a phenom in the making in 'J-Rod.'
Seattle's offense is scorching during this last month, where the Mariners have ripped off 12 straight wins heading into Saturday's matchup. The team is seventh in wRC+ this month and Rodriguez will partake in the Home Run Derby on Monday.
However, don't sleep on this Rangers offense either, placing 11th in wRC+ in July and have a power hitter of their own in Corey Seager, who has seven homers in the past two weeks.
Both pitchers are suspect to say the least. Rangers' SUnday starter Glenn Otto toes the slab for the Rangers, sporting an 8.06 ERA at home this season. Meanwhile, Chris Flexen has some regression looming with his FIP sitting nearly a half run higher than his ERA.
While the Mariners run doesn't feel flukey and this team has the makings of a playoff team, I'm not trusting Flexen on the road as a favorite, so I'll look to the over.
LEAN: OVER 9 (-105)
