The Boston Red Sox and the Seattle Mariners are two teams fighting to get back to .500. The Red Sox will put their faith in Nathan Eovaldi to finish this series off strongly. Seattle will try to get a win and maybe go on a rare winning streak. Will the Mariners be able to pull it off?

Mariners vs. Red Sox Prediction and Pick

I’m going to take the Red Sox in this one simply because I don’t think Nathan Eovaldi can be worse than what he was against the Astros. He had zero strikeouts, gave up five home runs and gave up nine runs in just under two innings.

Seattle’s offense also doesn’t give me much confidence. The Mariners are in the bottom third in a lot of major offensive categories (run differential, runs and hits per game). If the Mariners can force Eovaldi into throwing lemons all day, then maybe they have a chance.

The Mariners will put Logan Gilbert on the mound, which is a great thing for them. However, they’ve lost the last three games he’s started because once again, their offense can’t answer the call.

Boston may not cover in this one, but expect the Sox to defend Fenway.

Lean: Red Sox -117
