Mariners vs. Yankees Prediction and Odds for Monday, August 1 (Yankees' Firepower Too Much)
By Joe Summers
MLB's best team opens a series with MLB's hottest team today as the Yankees host the Mariners.
With a ridiculous 40-12 record at home, New York sends Domingo German to the mound for his third start of the season. He struggled last year and in his first outing back, but impressed in the minors and limited the Mets to two runs last week.
Seattle is an even-more ridiculous 15-3 in its last 18 road games. The Mariners have stormed back into the playoff race but have cause for concern with Marco Gonzales pitching today. Gonzales has a 4.62 expected ERA but to his credit, threw at least six innings in seven of his last eight starts.
Can the visitors overcome Goliath or will German get back on track as he settles into the rotation?

Mariners vs Yankees Prediction and Pick
The Mariners got a breath of relief with the news that Julio Rodriguez's x-rays were negative, but they're still facing an uphill battle in New York.
Marco Gonzales ranks in the 13th percentile in expected batting average and 23rd in expected ERA. He's supposed to limit a Yankees' lineup that handily led MLB in OPS against left-handed pitchers in July?
I don't think so, especially not with MVP-favorite Aaron Judge on the stretch he's having. Heading into yesterday's slate, the Yankees averaged 9.4 runs per game in their last five at home. They're too hot to fade right now.
Trust in New York to keep Gonzales' regression train rolling and trounce Seattle.
Pick: Yankees -1.5 (+110)
