The Miami Marlins bounced back after a four-game losing streak to take Game 1 of this series with the Oakland Athletics, 3-0. Tonight, the Marlins have a chance to win the series and set up a possible sweep with Pablo Lopez on the mound.

The Athletics counter with Zach Logue and look to put up more runs a day after getting shut out. Pablo Lopez was originally scheduled to pitch for Miami yesterday, but is ready to make the start after an extra day of rest.

Let’s take a look at the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook.

  • Athletics +1.5 (-160)

Marlins vs. Athletics Prediction and Pick

Zach Logue is pitching for the A’s today. He has made nine starts, pitched in 10 games, gotten the decision in all 10 and is 3-7. In his last two outings, he went 5.1 and gave up six earned runs in an 8-0 loss to Houston; and more recently he went 4.1 and allowed seven earned runs in a 10-3 loss to Texas. Logue’s ERA is 6.35 and his fielding independent pitching is 5.87. He has allowed 10 home runs in 45.1 innings. That is two home runs per nine innings pitched.

Pablo Lopez has struggled lately as well. It hasn't been to the extent that Logue has all season, but struggled nonetheless. He allowed six earned runs in his last start, and the Marlins have lost his last four starts. He still has a 3.83 ERA because of his early season success, but he doesn’t look like the same pitcher in the back half of the season.

If I had to pick a winner for this one, I would lean Miami even with Lopez struggling so much. Oakland does not have the best offense, and Logue has been truly terrible. However, I can simply bet against both pitchers and enjoy as each guy nearly gives up seven runs.

Pick: Over 7 Runs (-110)
