The Miami Marlins kick-off a three-game weekend series with the Chicago Cubs on Friday at Wrigley Field. Miami is 48-57 and in fourth place in the NL East, while Chicago is in a three-way battle for last place in the NL Central.
Miami has not officially announced a starter for the game, but Nick Neidert was recently recalled and is in line to go. His last start was on July 30. Chicago goes with Justin Steele.

Marlins vs. Cubs Prediction and Pick
When analyzing a baseball game, I usually look at starting pitchers, some matchups in the lineup or who the hot hitters are on each side. Then use this information to make the best bet that I possibly can. However, this game is a little bit different because in my mind none of that really matters for this game.
What does matter is rest. It is a 162 game season and it is a grind through the summer months. Whenever a team can get a rest day, it has to be such a great thing. It’s not the same as a team coming off of a bye week in the NFL, but rest still matters, and the Marlins will have a lot of it.
Miami is coming off of a rest day into this game on Friday night in which they have a chance to be favored on the road against a bad Chicago team. The Cubs on the other hand are playing a doubleheader in St. Louis on Thursday and will have to travel back to Chicago to play Miami tomorrow. The Cubs are 3-0 this year with a rest disadvantage, but to me that just screams regression is coming their way.
