Opening Day is upon us for a pair of National League foes when the Marlins start their season in San Francisco to take on the Giants.

The Giants had the best record in all of baseball last season, but lost in heartbreaking fashion in the postseason to their NL West rival Dodgers in the NLDS. How will they respond with a frisky Marlins team in town looking to take a step forward in 2022 after missing hte postseason?

Miami has a loaded pitching staff with young talent, headlined by ace Sandy Alcantara, who will toe the rubber for the team in the opener. Can they hang with an elite club like the Giants? Let's first check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:

Marlins vs. Giants Prediction and Pick

Both Alcantara (3.16 ERA over the last two seasons) and Giants starter Logan Webb (anchored a rotation that had 107 wins last season) are All-Star candidates this season and dark horses for the National League Cy Young.

Both pitchers limit traffic on the bases and I expect we see a low scoring affair early. Alcantara boasts a WHIP (walks, hits per inning pitched) of 1.094 over the last two years and can work through the Giants order early on.

With that being said, this San Fran lineup is dangerous, second in home runs last season and top 10 in on-base percentage. Alcantara is a budding star in this league and I think he can limit damage early, and he has success at Oracle Park, albeit across a small sample size. He has yielded a 2.84 ERA over his career in the Giants' home stadium.

Meanwhile, the issue for Alcantara over his young career has been the lack of run support he gets. The Marlins consistently struggle to produce when their ace is on the mound and I expect a similar fate on Friday afternoon with Webb in line to start.

Webb posted a 2.72 ERA last season, averaging nearly 10 strikeouts per 9 innings. Against a weak Marlins lineup, expect him to keep a clean sheet for most of the afternoon.

I landed on the first five under for this one. It's a bit pricey, but I want to leave the bullpens out of this and trust the horses of these rotations to keep the scoring low.

LEAN: First Five UNDER 4 (-130)
