Marquette vs. DePaul Prediction and Odds (Golden Eagles will Soar to Another Big East Win)
By Matt De Saro
The Marquette Golden Eagles and DePaul Blue Demons are set to square off in Big East action from the Wintrust Arena tonight. Marquette is fifth in the Big East, but with just two games left, it has no chance to catch up to the front of the pack. Things are even worse for DePaul who are just 5-13 in conference play and second-worst only to the 0-17 Georgetown Hoyas. While neither of these two teams has anything to play for, they match up very well and could produce an exciting game.
Marquette as a favorite here makes sense after going 11-3 in their last 14 games. One of those wins was over DePaul 87-76. This team also beat No. 20 Seton Hall, No. 11 Villanova and No. 20 Xavier, in consecutive games. Marquette even went on to beat No. 12 Villanova a second time. While their record isn’t as strong as some, they have had the 18th toughest schedule according to KenPom and have actually had an amazing year all things considered. Here are the odds for this Big East brawl, courtesy of WynnBET Sportsbook.

Marquette vs. DePaul Prediction and Pick
I gotta say, I’m not seeing a whole lot in this game that screams “underdog value” to me in this game. In fact, all signs point to Marquette having its way with DePaul for the second time this year. As I always do with tight spreads in NCAA, I turn to the type of metrics that usually win or lose these games. One big indicator is free-throw shooting and Marquette (74%) has a big advantage over DePaul (68.8%) in this area.
Aside from free throws, Marquette is significantly better in defensive rebounding, blocks per game, steals per game, and turnovers on offense. The one area they fall short in that does bug me is fouls. Yet the Blue Demons are so poor from the charity stripe, I don’t think it will make much difference.
Pick: Marquette -2 (-110)
