Marshall vs. James Madison Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 8
By Reed Wallach
James Madison has been one of the best stories in college football this season, jumping out to a 5-0 start in their first season at the FBS level.
However, the Dukes were handed their first loss last week on the road against Georgia Southern. How will they respond as they now host another Sun Belt newcomer in Marshall. The Thundering Herd seemed destined for big things this season after upsetting Notre Dame on the road, but have dropped both conference games and are now 3-3 on the season.
Marshall had extra time to prepare for this matchup after losing on Wednesday night last week to Louisiana-Lafayette, will they get on track against JMU?
Here are the odds and our best bet for this Sun Belt meeting in Week 8:

Marshall vs. James Madison Prediction and Pick
James Madison was undefeated against the number heading into last week, but fell as double digit road favorites to Georgia Southern. It may not be pretty, but I think there is some serious regression coming for the Dukes, and Marshall's recent cold spell can help generate some betting value.
For starters, the Herd's offense has fallen apart this season, outside the top 100 in EPA/Play and success rate and now seem primed to play two quarterbacks during this Week 8 meeting.
Marshall head coach Charles Huff mentioned that he expects to play both Henry Colombi and Cam Fancher this week when speaking with the media. It can't get much worse for the Herd offense so changes could give a jolt to the unit, but I'm counting on the defense to keep them within two touchdowns.
This is a Marshall offense that is third in success rate this season and sixth in line yards. Further, the team has the best rush defense in the country, allowing 2.59 yards per carry. James Madison has been blitzing team with their dynamic offense that is 39th in terms of EPA/Play, but I think we are going to start to see some regression to the mean.
The Dukes are playing their fifth straight game and have a Power 5 opponent on deck in Louisville, could there be a lapse in attention against a Marshall team that got some extra rest to prepare for this one. Remember, the Thundering Herd closed as double digit favorites against Louisiana-Lafayette last week.
This is an overcorrection in price and I'll play against it.
