The Marshall Thundering Herd is 10-17 overall and 3-11 in the conference after a pretty strong start to the season. Meanwhile, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles are 6-20 and have just one win in 13 games in C-USA games.

Marshall has one very important advantage in this matchup against Southern Miss tonight. The Herd actually have an offense, and one that doesn’t rank outside of the top 300 teams in the nation.

In fact, for all their win/loss woes, the Thundering Herd’s scoring offense ranks 84th in the country with 73.6 points per game. Marshall is also an above-average rebounding team and gets a lot of blocked shots.

On the other side of the coin, Southern Mississippi doesn’t really do anything well. It ranks 340th in the nation in scoring offense and 308th in scoring defense. The Golden Eagles are also one of the worst free-throw shooting teams in the country and do not draw any fouls with an average of 14.3 per game. That ranks them 346th.
