Maryland vs. Minnesota Prediction, Odds, Spread and Over/Under for College Football Week 8
By Matt De Saro
The Maryland Terrapins are coming off a bye ready to snap back after losing two straight to conference rivals. Those losses came at the hands of Iowa and Ohio State. Two games the Terps were underdogs and two games they failed to cover. Those losses dropped Maryland to 1-2 in conference play and they need this win to get back to .500.
Minnesota is coming off back-to-back wins, and covers, as underdogs to Purdue and Nebraska. The Golden Gophers will be out for blood in this game after being upset by the Terps last season 45-44 as 17 point underdogs.

Maryland vs. Minnesota Prediction Prediction and Pick
Despite their recent string of bad luck, Maryland started the season off a perfect 4-0 with some impressive wins to show for it. They opened the season with a win at home against West Virginia as 2.5 point underdogs. In Week 3, the Terps beat Ilinois 20-17 on the road but failed to cover as 7.0-point favorites. Things looked to be going well until the heavy hitters of the Big 10 came up on the schedule and showed us that Maryland still has mountains to climb before they are competitive in this conference. Ohio State crushed them by 49 points against a 22-point spread and Iowa had a field day, winning by 37 as three-point favorites. Maryland's secondary looked helpless in both games with receivers open left and right.
While they do have a talented offense led by Taulia Tagovailoa, the roster has been hit with several untimely injuries. Specifically, the loss of Dontay Demus Jr. to a knee injury will hurt them moving forward. Tagoaviloa is completing 72 percent of his passes and has 1,776 yards to date, but losing his top option will hurt.
Minnesota has its own share of injury issues heading into this game with their running game down to 3rd and 4th string players. Both Treyson Potts and Mo Ibraham are out for the rest of the season. That leaves Mar’Keise Irving (78 yards, 1 TD) and Bryce Williams (129 yards, 2 TD) to handle the brunt of the workload moving forward. Williams took over for Potts and had a great game, running for 127 yards and a TD.
I think that Maryland will have trouble getting over the two brutal losses they suffered in back-to-back weeks without their top receiver suiting up. Look for Minnesota to cover its third game in as many weeks and push Maryland further down in the Big 10 standings.
Prediction: Minnesota: -4.5 (-110)
