Mavericks vs. Cavaliers Prediction and Odds (Trust Dallas Against Banged Up Cavs)

It may officially be panic time for Cleveland Cavaliers fans.

The Cavs are down Evan Mobley (ankle), Jarrett Allen (finger), Collin Sexton (knee), Dean Wade (knee) and Rajon Rondo (ankle) and have slipped all the way to the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference.

That would set the Cavs up with a play-in matchup with the Brooklyn Nets, and it’s starting to look like Cleveland could fall out of the conversation altogether.

Darius Garland and company will look to climb back into the top six in the East when they host the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic on Wednesday night. Dallas blew out of the shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, and it will look to duplicate that against a banged up Cavs team tonight.

Mavericks vs. Cavaliers Prediction and Pick

Am I missing something here?

The Mavericks have gone 7-3 over their last 10 games and have beaten a handful of playoff teams in that stretch, yet they’re only laying three points against a makeshift Cavs team.

The Cavs, to their credit, have weathered the storm of several injuries this season, but losing Mobley to a sprained ankle on Monday against the Orlando Magic may have been the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

Cleveland is just 19th in defensive rating and 20th in offensive rating in its last 10 games while Dallas is 10th and 24th in those respective categories.

There’s always a fear that Dallas could rule guys out on the second night of a back-to-back, but only Reggie Bullock played over 31 minutes in the blowout over the Lakers.

I can’t get to this number for the Cavs against Doncic and company, especially since they have lost to the struggling Chicago Bulls and Lakers over their last few games.

Pick: Mavericks -3 (-110)
