Mexico City Grand Prix Prediction and Pick
As is the same with every Formula 1 race, betting on anyone not named Verstappen or Hamilton is a bet on something strange happening to both of the top two dogs. Whether it be a crash, penalty, or mechanical failure. Betting on the winner for F1 races comes down Verstappen versus Hamilton.
Following the strategy I've been using all year, I'm going to continue to bet on whichever one is the underdog. This week, it's Hamilton at +200. The difference between the two drivers is so razor thin, that taking whichever driver is set at plus-money seems like the smart thing to do.
Both drivers have won the Mexico City Grand Prix twice. Hamilton won it in 2016 and 2019, and Verstappen won it in 2017 and 2018. The race didn't take place in 2020 due to COVID-19 protocols.
Hamilton is too good of a driver to allow Verstappen to run away with the Drivers Championship. I expect a big bounce back race from him this week.
