Memphis Grizzlies Season Preview, Win Total Prediction and Playoff Odds

The Memphis Grizzlies have a budding star in Ja Morant and are flush with young talent. Fresh off of a postseason appearance in his second season, but a first round exit, can Morant take the Grizz to the next step?
Memphis prides themselves on defense, seventh in the league last season in defensive rating, and will be hoping that Morant can become a more efficient scorer after he shot 33% from beyond the arc.
While Morant is likely going to continue his ascent to All-Star status, Jaren Jackson Jr. is going to have to take the next step for Memphis to avoid the play-in game, which the Grizzlies were in last season. Jackson missed most of last season and struggled, the team was -12.3 last season with him on the floor.
A year out from restricted free agency, the Grizzlies are hoping for a breakout campaign so they can move forward with the core of him and Morant.
Memphis does have quality depth as well with young talents in the frontcourt in Xavier Tillman and Brandon Clarke. Second year pro Desmond Bane is already one of the most dangerous 3-point threats in the league as a bench weapon.
Taylor Jenkins’ teams have overachieved in his two years as coach, going from 34 wins in his first season to 38 wins last season in the abridged season.
Memphis Grizzlies Win Total Prediction | 41.5 (Over -116/Under -105)
The Grizz would’ve cleared this total in the shortened season and I’m banking on further improvement in the 2021-2022 season.
The team is full of young players including score first forward Dillon Brooks who can provide pop on a given night during the regular season.
It’s worth noting that the team traded Jonas Valanciunas, who was fantastic last season averaging 17 points and 12 rebounds, but the team brought in Steven Adams to be a stop gap center.
