They finally did it. The Angels finally won. They snapped their 14-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over Boston on Thursday and needed a whole lot of Shohei Ohtani to do it.

With no Mike Trout in the lineup, Ohtani had two hits, one of them a 2-run homer in the fifth.  Oh, and he pitched seven innings of one run baseball and had six strikeouts.

The modern day Babe Ruth needed to have that type of performance to pull LA out of the worst losing skid in the majors this year, one that saw Joe Madden get fired.  His replacement, Phil Nevin got his first win last night.

To follow up a one man show, the Angels are going for more of a group effort Friday night.  Speculation is Jhonathan Diaz will start in an opener role and LA will go with a bullpen game.

The Mets will go with starter Tyler Megill who enters with a 4.41 ERA in 34.2 IP.

Mets vs. Angels Prediction and Pick

Jhonathan Diaz has 2 starts on the season both coming in early May he went 5 and 4.2 innings scoreless in those two outings.  His only outing of June came on June 2nd when he went 4 innings to finish the game and allowed his only two runs of the year.  He may be able to provide the Angels with some length, but will likely turn it over to the bullpen.  A bullpen that has logged the fourth most innings in the MLB, but has the seventh highest ERA.

Tylor Megill is coming off of the injured list to make his first start since May 11th.  That start, he gave up eight runs and was unable to get out of the second innings.  With so much uncertainty on the mound in this one and no Mike Trout, Anthony Rendon and likely no Starling Marte or Pete Alonso.  It’s hard to call, but lets just ride with the team that is 38-21 and didn’t just lose 14 straight games.

Pick: Mets -120
