Two of the best teams in the MLB clash on Wednesday afternoon in Texas when the New York Mets take on the Houston Astros in Game 2 of a short two-game series. This is the first time these two first-place teams have played this year.

The NL East-leading Mets entered this series having won three straight series against the Marlins, Brewers and the Angels heading into Houston.

Houston, meanwhile, will try to keep their good fortune going after winning its last two series. But, with Luis Garcia on the hill, I’m not all that confident in Houston’s chances here.

Here are the odds for this game from consensus sportsbooks.

Mets vs. Astros Odds, Run Line, and Total

Run Line

  • Mets: +1.5 (-170)
  • Astros: -1.5 (+145)

Moneyline:

  • Mets: +110
  • Astros: -130

Total:

  • Total 8.5 (Over -115/Under -105)

Mets vs. Astros Prediction and Pick

I have to say I’m a bit surprised to see the Astros favored in the game as much as they are. Garcia does not give them their best chance to win and is a home run machine lately. Garcia enters this game at 4-5 with a 3.41 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. Not too bad I admit. In June, his ERA is 4.15 and the Astros are 1-2 in his last three starts. Garcia has also given up five home runs in his last three games. In fact, he’s not given up a home run in just three starts all year.

On the flip side, the Mets will trot out veteran Carlos Carrasco to make his 14th start. Carrasco has been very consistent all year and sports a 3.96 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. The Mets are 5-1 in his last six starts and Carrasco already has three wins this month. His career numbers against the Astros are also good with a batting average of just .206.

I don’t like the Astros in this game, or for this price, and am happy to get the Mets as road underdogs this afternoon.

Pick: New York Mets +110 to win
