Mets vs. Diamondbacks Prediction and Odds (NY's Bullpen Dealing with Early-Season Issues)
By Matt De Saro
It wasn’t pretty, but the Mets got us a win last night with a 6-5 victory over the Diamondbacks in extra innings. Things were going great for the Mets until the seventh inning when the bullpen started to fall apart. Eventually, New York was able to regain the lead in the 10th inning, but it was a bad showing from the bullpen. Especially considering the Diamondbacks have the worst batting average in the MLB at .180.
The Mets’ bullpen ERA rose to 3.61 and is currently the only thing holding them back from being an elite team. They still lead the NL East with an 11-4 record, but they need to sort their middle relief out before it starts costing them games.

Mets vs. Diamondbacks Prediction and Pick
The Mets bullpen issues will become less evident once starting pitchers are more stretched out and go deeper into games. However, tonight’s game will not be the one where that happens for the Mets.
Trevor Williams will get the start for the Mets here after totaling 1 ⅔ inning in two appearances this year. Williams did start three games for the Mets last year with mixed results. The Mets said he will not be an opener tonight, but I question his ability to put together multiple innings right now. Two, maybe three. But that leaves us back with the Mets bullpen.
A bullpen that put in a lot of work last night could be a bit winded. It’s true that Arizona couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat so far this year. But, Arizona showed last night they are at least capable of putting up runs against a poor bullpen. I don’t see why tonight would be much different.
Pick: OVER 9 (-130)
