Mets vs. Giants Prediction and Odds for Tuesday, May 24 (New York Set to Keep Rolling)
By Reed Wallach
Two of the National League's best are set to do battle Tuesday night following a lopsided series opener.
The New York Mets won 13-3 in San Francisco on Monday and will now look to make it two in a row against Logan Webb of the Giants. Will Chris Bassitt and a scorching Mets offense anchor the team to another series victory?
Here are the odds for Tuesday's matchup with odds from WynnBET Sportbsook:
Mets vs. Giants Odds, Run Line, Total
Run Line:
- Mets: +1.5 (-190)
- Giants: -1.5 (+150)
Moneyline:
- Mets: +109
- Giants: -119
Total: 7.5 (Over -105/Under -115)
Mets vs. Giants Prediction and Pick
After a fantastic first full season in the big leagues, Webb is taking a slight step back in 2022. He is more than capable, tied for a big league best five wins and pitching to a 3.54 ERA, but his command is a bit off (walking more batters and striking out less ) while also allowing more than one hit per 9 innings.
Now, he faces off against a Mets team that keeps on chugging along despite injuries to the pitching staff. The team is 9th in on-base percentage this month and is fresh off a 13-run drubbing of the Giants on Monday night. The real edge comes on the mound with Bassitt, though.
He has a 2.70 ERA with his biggest concern coming against home runs so far this season, allowing more than one per 9 innings. However, I'm not sure that should be as big of a concern for this matchup with the Giants 15th in slugging percentage this month.
Webb hasn't been as dominant as his 2021 self while Bassitt has been as reliable as ever, continuing to outperform his career numbers in his first season with the Mets. I like the Mets as small underdogs despite potentially being fat and happy after the offensive explosion on Monday.
LEAN: Mets +109
