There are a lot of mismatches on the mound today, but the New York Mets and Washington Nationals might have the biggest one. Tylor Megill enters his seventh start of the year with a 2.43 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in 33 ⅓ innings. He was lit up by the Braves on Wednesday but overall has been very good with three scoreless outings in six tries.

The Nationals, meanwhile, are handing the ball back to Patrick Corbin for some reason. The guy who couldn't even keep his roster spot on my terrible fantasy team is still getting started in the MLB. Corbin has a 7.16 ERA and 1.81 WHIP in 19 ⅔ innings spanning six starts. He hasn’t given up less than two runs in any start and the Nationals have lost every game Corbin started this year.

Mets vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick

Not only have the Nationals lost all six of Corbin’s starts, but they are also 1-5 ATS in those losses. When Corbin explodes, he does so in a big way. This will be his second start of the year against the Mets after opening the season with a two-run game against them. But, the Mets got off to a slow start and look much better at the plate these days.

And while the Mets have been one of the best teams in the MLB this year, the Nationals have been one of the worst. Washington is 4-13 straight up as they enter this game series against the Mets. They are 1-5 in their last six and already lost 3-of-4 to the Amazins.

Megill got a little banged up last game, but opened the year with a scoreless five innings against the Nats lineup. He struck out six and didn’t record a walk. I think he bounces back nicely today to put the Mets out in front to start this mid-week series.

Pick: Mets -1.5 (-110)
