Mets vs. Rockies Prediction Game 1 Prediction and Odds (Can Carlos Carrasco Continue to Roll at Coors?)
By Matt De Saro
The New York Mets are on the road today and will look to extend their lead in the NL East when they take on the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. The Mets’ bats have been on fire and could light up the scoreboard in the thin air of Denver.
The Mets enter this game with a phenomenal 26-14 overall record and lead the NL East by a whopping 7.5 games over the Phillies and Braves. This is the first time they face off against Colorado this year.
The Rockies, on the other hand, were briefly in first place in the NL West. But things took a quick turn and they are now 18-19 and fourth in a very competitive division. The Rockies are 2-8 straight up entering this series and really need to find their stroke before falling out of contention entirely.

Mets vs. Rockies Prediction and Pick
There are a lot of series this weekend that I would categorize as mismatches across the board. This series definitely falls into that category. The Mets are one of the best teams in the league right now, while the Rockies are in danger of falling apart before the Summer hits.
Things won’t get easier today for Colorado with Carlos Carrasco on the hill for New York. The veteran righty is having a fantastic year so far after finishing 2021 with a 6.04 ERA. This year he is 3-1 with a 3.73 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. He got shook a bit on Sunday by the Mariners to the tune of four runs in 4 ⅓ innings, but I am not too concerned about that slip-up. Carrasco is a vet who knows how to navigate some bumps in the road.
German Marquez gets the start for Colorado here but hasn’t been on his game for most of this season. Marques has a 6.16 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 38 innings pitched so far this year. His last game was a three-run, six-inning win over the Royals. But, the Royals are trash and he still got roughed up slightly.
The Mets have a clear advantage on both sides of the ball and currently have very favorable odds for a road favorite.
Pick: Mets -120 to win
