Fans of the Miami Hurricanes had high hopes for the football team this year, but things haven’t got off to a promising start.

They got trounced by No. 1 Alabama in their opening game 44-13, and then followed it up with a subpar performance against Appalachian State from the Sun Belt Conference, barely escaping with the 25-23 win.

Not only that, but the Hurricanes quarterback D’Eriq King has seen his Heisman Trophy odds fall from +2000 to +8000, effectively ending his campaign for the award.

They’ll look to gain some momentum this week when they take on a 2-0 Michigan State team.

The Spartans got off to a fast start to their season, beating Northwestern 38-21 in Week 1 and then following it up with a 42-14 win over Youngstown State.

Despite the two teams trending in different directions, oddsmakers have set Miami as the betting favorite in this interconference showdown.

No. 24 Miami vs. Michigan State Prediction and Pick

I might be underthinking this game, but based solely on how these two teams have looked through the first two weeks, I have to take Michigan State and the points.

The Spartans have looked nothing short of impressive. Their offense is averaging the second most yards per game in the country per carry at 8.8. Factor that in with the fact that Miami is giving up 150 yards per game on the ground, there should be holes open for the Michigan State backfield.

D’Eriq King has been one of the most disappointing quarterbacks this college football season, throwing only one touchdown and two interceptions through his first two starts.

The Spartans may not be able to win the game outright, but I have no choice but to back them and the points in this interconference showdown. Give me Michigan State +6.5.
