Just as everything was starting to come up Milhouse for the New York Jets, their brightest star on offense is now officially done for the season.
Via multiple NFL insiders, including NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, rookie running back Breece Hall tore his ACL in the Jets' 16-9 victory on the road vs. the Denver Broncos in Week 7.
#Jets RB Breece Hall has indeed torn his ACL, per @TomPelissero.

MRI confirmed in this morning. Just a heartbreaking injury for the star rookie.
Long road to recovery ahead.
Through seven games, Hall looked to be a star in the making. In limited carries, he ranked sixth in the NFL in total rushing yards, averaging 5.8 yards a carry and seven carries of 20+ yards. He also hauled in 19 catches for 218 yards this season, good for fourth-best in the NFL in running back receiving yards.
Breece Hall does it again! 😱 @BreeceH

His timeline to recovery will be rough for Jets' fans eager to see him return, but as FanSided's Jets site, "The Jet Press" points out, this is the same injury suffered by Saquon Barkley a few years back, and in 2022, he is second in the NFL in rushing behind only Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns.
Another player who tore his ACL/meniscus like Breece Hall is Saquon Barkley.

It was a long road back for Barkley, but he’s returned and looks better than ever this season.
Sad part: Don’t expect much from Breece in 2023.
Good part: Hopefully 100% by 2024.
With Hall out of the mix, the Jets turn to running backs Michael Carter and Ty Johnson to fill the void . But which of the two backs is most likely to take over the vacant attempts and targets Hall leaves behind?
Michael Carter vs. Ty Johnson? Who Takes Over for Breece Hall
Carter looks to be the clear-cut initial choice, running 13 times in the Week 7 win over Denver for only 29 yards; averaging only 2.2 yards per carry. He hasn't been particularly impressive in his opportunities, churning out just 3.5 yards per carry this season. In the receiving game, he's done all right, catching 17 of 21 targets, but the big plays and explosiveness simply haven't been there with 5.6 yards per reception.
Ty Johnson is also in consideration, but Carter out-gained and out-snapped Ty Johnson both as a rusher and receiver on Sunday; catching two passes for 45 yards compared to 1 for 6.
#Jets RB opportunities (carries plus targets) after Breece Hall went down with 3:37 left in first half yesterday:
— Adam Levitan (@adamlevitan) October 24, 2022
* Michael Carter 14
* Ty Johnson 5
Don't count out Johnson just yet. With Hall and Carter a key component for the Jets, Johnson was the odd man out. But, the upside is noteworthy when he's played in years past.
Johnson has played 50%+ snaps in 9 career games…

He averages 12.2 points in these contests.
Translation: He’s a Top-24 RB when given usage.
Stash him but pass on this RB:
For a real sleeper name to watch out for, Zonovan “Bam” Knight was an undrafted free agent currently behind on the depth chart, but could start to see some action in the coming weeks.
There's also the trade market with the NFL Trade Deadline just over a week away. Expect several big name running back rumors to be floated around for New York with the Jets at 5-2, competing for their first postseason appearance since 2010.
