Michael Gallup has gone on record saying that he believes the Cowboys offense can’t be stopped this season. The Cowboys have weapons across the field, but Gallup is now the third option in the arsenal. Gallup was the No. 2 target going into last season, but CeeDee Lamb emerged as the more popular option.

WynnBET sees Lamb as the clear cut No. 2 option to Amari Cooper, with Gallup a distant third. Lamb has +5000 odds to lead the league in receiving, while Gallup has +15000 odds. Gallup sees his status dropping and is finding another way to climb back up the ladder.

Gallup has been taking more reps in the slot during training camp, adding routes to his tree. He feels that he can do much more than be the “deep-ball threat” he’s labeled as. With the added routes in his bag, he can compete with Lamb -- who has speed on the outside and routes in the slot already.

Gallup finished last season with 105 targets, 59 receptions and 843 yards -- all less than Lamb. He also had the lowest catch percentage out of the three top receivers. While more route possibilities will make him more versatile, it won’t matter unless he can catch the ball.

What will be hard for Gallup is to respark his connection with Dak Prescott. Gallup came on late in 2020 with Andy Dalton as the quarterback. Lamb was becoming a favorite target of Prescott in the early season, and that seems like it will be the case moving forward.

If Gallup can make the most of his reps inside, he’ll be able to battle Lamb across the field.
