Michigan State vs. Indiana Prediction, Odds and Spread for College Football Week 7
By Matt De Saro
The Michigan State Spartans remain undefeated heading into week 7 after a hard-fought win against Rutgers. MSU also managed to cover the spread. This week, the Spartans should have an easier time with Indiana. So why is the spread just 4.0 in their favor?
While MSU has been a cash cow so far this season, the Hoosiers at 2-3 have been anything but after covering a single spread so far. Can they snap out of their ATS funk against MSU or will State roll over them for a seventh straight outright win?
Let’s take a deeper look at the betting stats heading into this game and decide, with all odds via WynnBET.

Michigan State vs. Indiana Prediction and Pick
After starting the season 6-0, is it finally time to take MSU seriously? I mean, sure they are a good football team. But a top-10 team? I am not sold just yet. Despite an unblemished record, the Spartans have only beaten one ranked opponent, the Miami Hurricanes, and nearly lost to Nebraska a couple of weeks ago.
While I may not be convinced this team is “for real,” I do have a good feeling about MSU heading into this game on the road at Memorial Stadium in Week 7. The team has covered the spread in four of thor six games and four points feel awfully light against an Indiana team that has been subpar at best.
Maybe oddsmakers are still in love with the Hoosiers after beating Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin last season. But, this is clearly not the same team that finished the year in the top-15.
I think that MSU just needs to keep the game plan simple here and run the ball down the Hoosier’s throat. A successful running attack will help shorten the game and open the Hoosiers up to play-action and the Spartans passing game in general.
MSU currently ranks 25th in the nation in terms of rushing yards per game at 208.6 while Indiana’s rushing defense allows 144.5 YPG. Good for 58th best. While the disparity here is not massive, when taking into account the other factors, it makes MSU a pretty easy pick on the spread here.
