No. 4 Ohio State plays host to No. 7 Michigan State in the game of the weekend in College Football Week 12.

This game will go a long way towards sorting out the Big Ten East, as the Spartans are trailing the Buckeyes by a game in the crowded division. Both teams are in the mix for the College Football Playoff too and the winner will likely find themselves in pole position to represent the Big Ten in the CFP heading into the final few weeks of the regular season.

Before we handicap this matchup, let's check out the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook.

Ohio State vs. Michigan State Prediction and Pick

This game has shootout written all over it, as indicated with the high total, however I'm still playing the over.

Both teams offensive explosiveness is well documented -- Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud and Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker are both in the mix for the Heisman -- and I don't see either defense finding an answer.

The Buckeyes are leading the country in yards per play this season, averaging more than eight yards per play, and the Michigan State defense is shaky at best, 76th in defensive success rate.

Meanwhile, Ohio State's defense is still a concern. We saw the team struggle against Oregon and their swing passing game, and Walker will be able to find space on the outside to rack up yards. The defense is middling in explosive defense and allowing a touchdown on 70% of red zone opportunities. I envision Sparty will be able to move the ball and cash in to do their part to clear this total.

OSU's offense scored 49 points in the first half last Saturday, and I can see them putting up a similar point total over the course of the game against a vulnerable Michigan State defense. I would rather take the over than lay the points with garbage time playing a role.
