Michigan State upset Wisconsin on Friday night, setting up a semifinals matchup against Purdue, who is coming off a win against Penn State in the late session on Friday.

The Big Ten Tournament continues on and will settle the season series between Tom Izzo's Michigan State Spartans and highly ranked Purdue. Sparty took the lone regular season matchup and Purdue will look to even the score.

Who has the edge in this one with Purdue considerable favorites? Here are the odds from WynnBET Sportsbook:

Michigan State vs. Purdue Odds, Spread and Total

Spread:

  • Michigan State: +6.5 (-110)
  • Purdue: -6.5 (-110)

Moneyline:

  • Michigan State: +230
  • Purdue: -290

Total: 142.5 (Over -110/Under-110)

Michigan State vs. Purdue Prediction and Pick

I like Michigan State to hang around in this game. We saw the Spartans thrive as an underdog against Wisconsin on Friday night and they have had success against the overvalued Boilermakers this season.

On the defensive end, Michigan State has the length to challenge the likes of Zach Edey with big man Marcus Bingham, but also can take advantage of Purdue's porous defense.

Looking at the other side, the Boilermakers are a non-threat to force turnovers, which has been the flaw in the Michigan State offense, worst in Big 10 play this season. However, Purdue ranks towards the bottom in forcing them, 13th in the league. This is simply too many points to lay with a Purdue team that has struggled to cover this season as a favorite, 12-17-1 against the spread (ATS).

I believe Michigan State has some positive momentum building and I see them live for another upset given the recent form of the Boilermakers.

LEAN: Michigan State +6.5
