Mid-Week College Football Line Movement: Arkansas Breaking Away from LSU After Opening as Near Pick 'Em

The LSU Tigers came incredibly close to knocking off the No. 2 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 10 on the road. As weird as it sounds, it was an impressive loss for the unranked 4-5 Tigers. 

Things get a little bit easier in Week 11 but the Tigers are still facing down the barrel of another ranked team. The No. 25 Arkansas Razorbacks head to Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge on a two-game win streak against their SEC West rivals. 

When the odds opened for this game, the game was a near pick’em with Arkansas only slightly favored. After getting pounded early, the spread is now -2.5 in favor of the Razorbacks. The total was also on the move early, dropping on Tuesday from 59.0 to 58.5 but has since snapped back to 59.0 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The Razorbacks and Tigers are heading in different directions right now just like their odds to win this game. Arkansas is coming off two strong wins over UAPB and Mississippi State who were ranked 17th at the time. 

While an SEC title is not in Arkansas’ future, a bowl game is not out of the question. With a 6-3 overall record and 2-3 in conference play, the Razorbacks actually have something to play for. 

At this point, all LSU has left to play for is Ed Orgeron. With just three games left in the regular season, the entire school will be pulling for a strong finish to Oregon’s storied tenure. 

While I wasn’t too sure about LSU on the opening line, as the creep towards FG underdogs the notion is getting a lot more attractive. It would be a memorable win for Coach O to spoil Arkansas' hopes of bowl eligibility.
