Milwaukee Bucks Being Overlooked in NBA Finals Odds… Again
The last time we had meaningful NBA basketball, Giannis Antetokounmpo was hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy after dropping 50 points. Milwaukee was the center of the basketball universe. Yet over the summer, we’ve collectively anointed the Brooklyn Nets champions and shifted all the attention away from the Bucks.
That’s a mistake.
WynnBET has the Nets as the favorite to win the NBA title, with their odds at +225. The Los Angeles Lakers are second in the odds standings with +375 odds. Milwaukee is in third place, which doesn’t seem disrespectful, but its odds are at +900. Milwaukee is returning its Big 3 and has cast all of its demons away, but is being seriously underrated.
This is nothing new, though. The Bucks were overlooked all throughout last season, as the Nets’ star power blinded the rest of the league. Nevertheless, that star power is now in question. With Kyrie Irving’s availability up in the air due to his vaccination status, the Nets aren’t as unstoppable as they seem on paper.
The Nets just announced that Irving won’t play or practice until he can be with the team in a full-time capacity. If there was a team that could survive the loss of Irving, it’s the Nets, but they are still down a superstar -- leaving room for Milwaukee to upset them.
The Bucks have been quiet this offseason, as they’ve sat back and watched the rest of the league scramble to get to the top while the rested on their laurels.
Milwaukee is going to be a dangerous team. Antetokounmpo is fully in his prime with Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday able to handle the perimeter scoring. The Bucks don’t have to be the overwhelming favorites to win the title, but a little more respect should be thrown their way.
