One of the world's best is trying to turn the narrative around on Clay.

Daniil Medvedev has risen to No. 2 in the world, but has struggled to best the clay courts just yet. He is yet to drop a set through the first 2 rounds but has an intriguing matchup against rising Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic on Saturday. Can he continue his run as he searches to best his 2021 campaign that saw him reach the quarterfinal?

Here are the odds for this third round meeting from WynnBET Sportsbook:

Miomir Kecmanovic vs. Daniil Medvedev Odds, Spread, Total

  • Medvedev: -2.5 (-110)

Total: 37.5 (Over -115/Under -105)

Miomir Kecmanovic vs. Daniil Medvedev Prediction and Pick

While the line appears short for the No. 2 player in the world, it is justified due to his shaky record on clay. He is still talented, but is 68-40 on the surface and will face a stiff test against Kecmanovic, who has dropped one set through the first two rounds.

Kecmanovic has been on the clay swing while Medvedev recovered from a procedure this past winter, making the semis at Munich and the quarters at Belgrade before falling to Novak Djokovic in 3 sets. With more reps on the surface it's no surprise to see the Serbian and No. 31 player in the world post his best result to date at Roland-Garros in the third round.

While I won't call for the outright upset, I believe we are in for a competitive match. These two have not met before, but Medvedev's struggles on clay are well documented while he is facing a challenger that has held up against the best of the best on this surface recently. While he lost to Rafael Nadal, he also took the second set to a tiebreak in Madrid.

It's a thin margin, but I'm going to take Kecmanovic on the game spread in what has the makings of another early exit for the Russian at Roland-Garros.

LEAN: Kecmanovic +2.5 Games
