MLB Best Bets Today (Cortes & Detmers Get Second Chance On Thursday)
Yesterday was a weird day. The Angels-Yankees game was postponed, so the Cortes and Detmers props were moot. On top of that, Bumgarner had one of his better starts of the season, leaving us with an 0-1 day.
Today, I’m going right back to the well with Cortes and Detmers, as some of the odds have become more favorable.
Let’s get right into the bets for today, with odds coming from consensus lines and WynnBET Sportsbook.
MLB Best Bets for Thursday, June 2
- Nestor Cortes Jr. OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (+105)
- Reid Detmers UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (-128)
- Johnny Cueto OVER 3.5 Strikeouts (-146)
Nestor Cortes Jr. OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (+105)*
Cortes is on a hot streak right now. He’s cleared this line in three of his last four starts and has a great matchup tonight. The Angels strikeout at the third-highest rate in baseball. Cortes has the second-best ERA and third-best WHIP in MLB. At home, he should be able to find his rhythm early and keep it up all night.
Reid Detmers UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (-128)*
Detmers has only cleared this line once this season, and that was only by one strikeout. Other than that, he has made his money getting outs without the K. The Yankees are in the upper half of the league in strikeouts per game, striking out at the 12th-lowest rate. With a powerful offense like the Yankees, Detmers is bound to struggle. He has an ERA over 5.00 and might be hit off the mound tonight. Although this prop is slightly juiced, I still like it.
Johnny Cueto OVER 3.5 Strikeouts (-146)
Cueto missed this line in his last start, but it was a sharp contrast from his previous two starts. Cueto has a 2.41 ERA and two run-less starts to his resume this season. It’s clear the last game was a blip in how he will perform. Even against a team like the Blue Jays, expect Cueto to have a solid outing.
