MLB Best Bets Today (Expect Pitching Duel in H-Town, Prediction for Shohei Ohtani)

Jose Urquidy OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (-129)
This is an attempt to zig while people may zag. Urquidy has missed this line three times against the Seattle Mariners this season. However, I’m going to back him to break the curse tonight.
The Houston Astros are home today, which is always good for Urquidy strikeout props. This year he has four more strikeouts at home than on the road – despite pitching in four less games. He’s a good pitcher at home, so I’ll back that rather than the Mariners.
Shohei Ohtani OVER 8.5 Strikeouts (+102)
Ohtani is one of the only bright spots for the Los Angeles Angels and is currently on fire. He’s hit double-digit strikeouts in his last five starts. This line should be one strikeout above this one, so I like feeling like I’m getting a discount on a superstar.
The Texas Rangers are just outside the bottom third in terms of strikeouts per game. Ohtani will take advantage of that and dominate today.
Logan Gilbert OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (+110)
Gilbert has only cleared this line twice in his last five starts, but one of the wins was against this Astros team. Gilbert is 1-2 against this line when facing the Astros this season, but I think he was able to figure something out in his last start. The key for Gilbert will be to stay on the mound as long as possible, but I think he can get to .500 against the Astros today.
