MLB Best Bets Today (Fade Gerrit Cole)
Julio Urias saved us from an 0-3 Friday. I was on the wrong side of Sandy Alcantara’s and Chris Flexen’s props. Urias had a monster 9-strikeout day against the Braves, bringing us to 1-2 on the day.
Still, my confidence is unshaken coming into Saturday. I’m backing not one, but two UNDER props and throwing in a home run pick – because it's the weekend.
Let’s get right into the bets for today, with odds coming from consensus lines and WynnBET Sportsbook.
MLB Best Bets Today
- Gerrit Cole UNDER 6.5 Strikeouts (+120)
- Mike Minor UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (+105)
- Juan Soto to Hit A Home Run (+310)
Gerrit Cole UNDER 6.5 Strikeouts (+120)
Cole has cleared this line plenty of times this season, but that has been against suspect competition. He’s pitched against the Rays three times, the Orioles twice and the Tigers twice. Today, he’ll face a team that averages the third-fewest strikeouts per game. The Astros know how to defend the plate and it’ll be tough – even for Cole to get a beat on them.
Mike Minor UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (+105)
Minor is going against the Giants, who average the eighth-most strikeouts per game in baseball. Normally, this would cause me to take the OVER, but not today. Minor has come UNDER this line in three of his four starts this season. The Giants are slightly better at striking out less at home, which is where they’ll be tonight. Minor has given up a home run in every start this season, along with several hits. The potential for him to get pulled early is there, so I’ll fade him today.
Juan Soto, Washington Nationals, (+310)
Soto has an interesting task today, as he won’t be going against one starter. The Rangers are in line for a bullpen game. Soto will see an array of pitches tonight. While he won’t be able to learn a bunch of tendencies on the fly, he’s one of the best home run hitters in baseball, so I’ll back him today. Soto has one homer in his last 10 games, but I think he’s due for a big Saturday.
