I want to start my week off with some winners, so today I’m backing an on-fire pitcher and team, while fading another pitcher facing a divisional rival.

Let’s get right into the bets for today, with odds coming from consensus lines and WynnBET Sportsbook.

MLB Best Bets Today

  • Marcus Stroman OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (-128)
  • Jordan Montgomery UNDER 5.5 Strikeouts (-150)
  • Twins -1.5 vs. Tigers (-125)

Marcus Stroman OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (-128)

Marcus Stroman has been on top of his game recently. He’s cleared this prop in three of his last four starts. He’s averaged 6.0 innings per start in his last three starts. He’s staying on the mound for a long time, giving him an advantage.

Today, he’ll have to strikeout the toughest team in baseball. However, the Cardinals are middle of the pack in strikeouts over the last three games. Stroman should be able to take advantage of that and clear this with ease.

Jordan Montgomery UNDER 5.5 Strikeouts (-150)

This line is the most juiced out of all of these props, but it’s also my favorite. Montgomery hasn’t cleared this line all season long. He also hasn’t come within one strikeout of it in two starts.

I understand the Orioles aren’t a great team, but they just won last night and are dangerous. Montgomery has faced Baltimore twice this season and hasn’t come close to this line. I’ll fade him with ease.

Twins -1.5 vs. Tigers (-125)

I’m going to back Minnesota here. I think the Twins have too much momentum going into a game like this and have several advantages over the Tigers.

The first of those advantages is Sonny Gray. After a suspect start to the season, Gray has buckled down. He’s thrown 20 strikeouts over the last three starts and has only allowed one home run. If he’s in good form, the Twins can certainly give him the run support needed to win.

Secondly, Minnesota knows how to pick up extra bases. The Twins are fifth in the league in walks and fourth in doubles per game. They can extend plays and put Detroit in tough positions quickly.

The Twins are rolling right now and I don’t think the Tigers have anything for them, especially on the road.
