Betting on MLB hasn't been too kind to me this season, but I'm hanging up my NBA hat and putting on my spikes to get into the nitty gritty for some MLB picks on Monday, Aug. 1.

I have a couple of prop bets, including the ultimate fade of Patrick Corbin, as well as an underdog play in the late night matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants.

Why don't we start August on a heater? Here are my favorite bets to make in MLB, with odds via DraftKings Sportsbook:

MLB Best Bets Today

  • Baltimore Orioles vs. Texas Rangers: No Run First Inning (-125)
  • Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants: Giants ML (+120)
  • Patrick Corbin UNDER 16.5 Outs Recorded (-125)

Patrick Corbin UNDER 16.5 Outs Recorded (-125)

The New York Mets have won six straight and are on fire coming into today’s game against Patrick Corbin and the Washington Nationals.

Corbin has allowed 17 runs (16 earned) over his last three starts (10.2 innings) and is coming off a shellacking in his last start, giving up six runs in 0.2 innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Yes, Corbin has given the Nationals length at times while still getting rocked, but he has cleared 16.5 outs just three times in his last eight starts and nine times in 21 starts overall. The Mets are going to hammer him, and I can’t see him getting past the fifth inning on Monday.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Texas Rangers: No Run First Inning (-125)

I’m tailing my guy Joe Summers with this pick, as I’m a big believer in Jon Gray this season.

Gray is 6-3 with a 2.65 ERA over his last 11 starts, and the Orioles are one of the worst first inning teams this year, scoring just 16.67% of the time.

Spenser Watkins has been solid this year for the Orioles, allowing fewer than three runs in every start since May 11. With both of these offenses looking mediocre, I like taking and NRFI here at decent odds.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants: Giants ML (+120)

The best trend in MLB may be betting on Logan Webb pitching at home, as the Giants are 21-3 in his home starts over the last two seasons.

The Giants haven’t been playing well lately, losing seven of their last 10 games, but I think Webb may be the guy who can get them back on track.

The Dodgers have rolled through lesser competition in the Washington Nationals and Colorado Rockies over their last two series. However, San Francisco is a much better team, especially offensively, where it ranks seventh in baseball in runs scored.

I know Andrew Heaney (1-0, 0.47 ERA in four starts) has been good this season, but his previous few seasons give me little hope that he keeps this up. I’ll back the Giants with Webb on the bump.
