MLB Best Bets Today (Luis Severino Set For Bounce Back Game, Plus Two More Strikeout Props)
Our return from the weekend didn’t go as well as planned. While we hit on the Sandy Alcantara prop (shoutout to the Los Angeles Angels for being an automatic fade), Nick Lodolo had an incredibly efficient eight strikeout day. Still, I’m brushing that off and getting back on the “strikeout prop horse.”
Let’s get right into the bets for today, with odds coming from consensus lines and WynnBET Sportsbook.
MLB Best Bets Today
- Luis Severino OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-105)
- Glenn Otto OVER 3.5 Strikeouts (-127)
- Spenser Watkins OVER 3.5 Strikeouts (+124)
Luis Severino OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-105)
Severino has cleared this line in four of his last five starts, coming up short in his last start against the Houston Astros. He’s normally above this line and I think it’s being discounted because of his poor start against Houston.
Severino is going to go at least five innings and will likely go further than that. If he can stay on the mound, he’ll clear this line against the team with the second-worst strikeout rate in the league.
Glenn Otto OVER 3.5 Strikeouts (-127)
Otto has pitched in two games since coming back from the COVID-19 injured list. He’s ramped up the amount of innings he’s pitched, which gives me hope he’ll go for a while today.
In the starts before his absence, Otto had cleared this line in three straight games. I think he can get back to form today against the Baltimore Orioles, who are 27th in the league in strikeout rate.
Spenser Watkins OVER 3.5 Strikeouts (+124)
Just like Otto, I think Watkins has a chance to be successful against a team that strikes out often. The Texas Rangers have the fifth-worst strikeout rate over the last three games, which lines up with the good momentum Watkins has set up for himself.
Watkins has cleared this line in his last two starts. Normally, he isn’t known as a strikeout artist, but this matchup suggests he can get going.
