We had a great day on Wednesday's MLB slate, going 2-0 once again in "Best Bets."

Today, my focus is on the pitching matchup in the Red Sox-Angels game. On top of that, I'll fade a young pitcher down by the beach in South Florida.

Let’s get right into the bets for today, with odds coming from both consensus lines, as well as WynnBET Sportsbook.

MLB Best Bets Today

  • Nick Pivetta OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-125)
  • Shohei Ohtani OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-108)
  • Trevor Rogers UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (-120)

Nick Pivetta OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-125)

Pivetta comes off solid last month on the mound for the Red Sox. He was near this line plenty of times, clearing it with eight strikeouts twice while starting off this month with seven punchouts. He’s finding a groove right now and will have a big day against an Angels team that’s lost its way.

Los Angeles strikes out at the third-highest rate in the Majors. I don’t expect them to fix their issues tonight, so back Pivetta to get the job done.

Shohei Ohtani OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-108)

One of the best things the Angels have going for them is Ohtani. The two-way star allows them to have versatility in their lineup and tonight should only help.

In order to do that, he’ll need a bounce back game. Ohtani allowed three home runs in his last start; pitching less than four innings.

Ohtani is great in bounce-back games. He’s never missed this line twice in a row this season, and I expect that trend to carry on tonight.

Trevor Rogers UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (-120)

Rogers has missed this line in every game this season except for two; becoming an automatic fade for me. His ERA is above 5.00 and he’s outside the top 100 in strikeouts this season.

The Nationals average the second fewest strikeouts per game, further strengthening the argument against Rogers this evening.
