MLB Best Bets Today (Strikeouts On Tap For Friday’s Slate)
We were one Shohei Ohtani strikeout away from a perfect 3-0 day, but I’ll still take a 2-1 evening.
I went with two OVERs and an UNDER yesterday, and I'll go with that same strategy today. We'll look for some positive regression to bring us home, but I'm confident about these early weekend picks.
Let’s get right into the bets for today, with odds coming from consensus lines and WynnBET Sportsbook.
MLB Best Bets Today
- Framber Valdez UNDER 5.5 Strikeouts (-112)
- Hunter Greene OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-150)
- Carlos Rodon OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-148)
Framber Valdez UNDER 5.5 Strikeouts (-112)
Valdez has cleared this line in four of his last six starts, but I’m going to fade him today.
I normally like betting on Valdez, but he’s facing the White Sox today. While Chicago doesn’t have a great offense, they average the seventh-fewest strikeouts per game. When Valdez faced another tough team to strike out in the Kansas City Royals, he missed this line as well. I’ll play the matchup and get similar value as the OVER.
Hunter Greene OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-150)
This is a little juiced up for a high line, however, Greene warrants it. He’s cleared this line in his last three starts and is consistently one strikeout away from clearing it. The Brewers average the sixth-most strikeouts per game in the majors and have averaged 11 strikeouts per game over the last three games.
With Milwaukee struggling the way it is right now, Greene should find success.
Carlos Rodón OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-148)
I’m going with another juiced up prop here.
After a strong start to the season, Rodón had a little dip in production last month. He’s missed this line in four of his last five starts, but cleared it in his last start. I look at that as him righting the ship.
Today, he’ll face the Pittsburgh Pirates, who are one of the most strikeout-prone teams in the majors. Rodón should go for about six innings and rack up the strikeouts then.
