I tried to sprinkle in a little bit of everything in today’s column. I have a player prop, game prop and even have a longshot home run pick.

Let’s get right to it, with all odds coming from consensus lines.

MLB Best Bets Today

  • Clayton Kershaw OVER 7.5 Strikeouts (+122)
  • Padres -1.5 vs. Pirates (+105)
  • Francisco Lindor, New York Mets (+560)

Clayton Kershaw OVER 7.5 Strikeouts (+122)

Kershaw has missed this line in his last two games, but his 13 strikeout performance to start the season shows he can still dominant a matchup. If the Dodgers allow him to go more than five innings, this line clears easily. Still, he can be efficient tonight against the Tigers. Detroit has one of the worst offenses in the league. Kershaw is well-rested and should have enough arm to have a good night.

Padres -1.5 vs. Pirates (+105)

The Pirates have lost four straight games, while the Padres have won four in a row. These are two teams at the opposite ends of the spectrum. I’m going to back the Padres simply because they are the better team and I like getting plus money against the run line.

San Diego is 6th in the league in runs per game and first in the league in walks per game. The Padres can put people on base in creative ways and figure out how to get runs on the board.

Pittsburgh is averaging two runs per game in its last three games. It’s offense has truly fallen asleep and I don’t trust it to wake up against one of the best teams in the league.

Francisco Lindor to Hit A Home Run (+560)

Lindor has cooled off since the start of the season, but I like his price tonight. The Phillies give up nearly one homer per game and the Mets are rolling right now. They are 14-6 on the year and Lindor has a little bit of power he can tap into. Kyle Gibson has given up three homers in four starts this year. He can get got and I’ll take a swing on Lindor.
