MLB Best Prop Bets Today (Fade Dylan Cease & JP Sears, Back Corbin Burnes & Sandy Alcantara)
Yikes... yesterday wasn't a great day for us. We went 1-4, with Michael Kopech's Strikeout OVER being the only winner for us. It's a small slate today and hopefully that helps us lock in on the best props on the board.
It's a simple day for us. We have four props -- three strikeout props and one earned run prop. Let's get to this bounce back day.
Don’t forget, you can always find game-by-game betting plays and previews for each matchup on our MLB Picks page, as well as every team’s list of probable pitchers, weather forecasts, and more.

Corbin Burnes OVER 6.5 Strikeouts - San Francisco Giants vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Yesterday, I got burned taking the under on a strikeout artist in Spencer Strider, and he hit the OVER on 8.5 punch outs in just six innings of work.
At least for today, I’ll learn my lesson and back Corbin Burnes’ over at 6.5, even at very juiced odds at home vs. the San Francisco Giants in Game 1 of their doubleheader.
Milwaukee will need a long start out of last year’s Cy Young winner, and the conditions for today match up perfectly. He’s at home, pitching in the shadows for a 3:05 p.m. local time first pitch, and gets a Giants lineup that’s bottom 12 in strikeout percentage.
In day games, Burnes is 4-2 with a 2.92 ERA, and 83 strikeouts in 61.1 innings. That’s 12.1 strikeouts per nine innings. I expect him to cruise past the Giants with this over. – Ben Heisler
JP Sears UNDER 3.5 Strikeouts - Chicago White Sox vs. Oakland Athletics
JP Sears will face the Chicago White Sox, and bettors shouldn’t expect many strikeouts from him tonight. Dating back to August 1st, the White Sox have the second lowest strikeout rate against left-handed pitchers, striking out on only 17.2% of their plate appearances.
This isn’t just a recent phenomenon. For the entire year, Chicago has only been striking out on 20.3% of plate appearances against lefties, which is the seventh best mark in the Majors.
Sears has also failed to surpass this total in four of his five starts since joining the Athletics, so I love this bet for tonight’s action. - Iain MacMillan
Sandy Alcantara UNDER 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed - Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Philies
Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara has cooled off a bit in the second half of the season, but he’s still shown he can be dominant, such as his complete game performance against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Aug. 27.
Even though the last time he faced the Philadelphia Phillies Alcantara gave up four runs, he probably should’ve been lifted after seven innings of one-run ball rather than going out for the eighth.
Overall this season, Alcantara has 21 of his 27 starts with two or fewer earned runs allowed. I think he bounces back in his second start this month. – Peter Dewey
Dylan Cease UNDER 8.5 Strikeouts – Chicago White Sox vs. Seattle Mariners
Cease is fantastic, but I just can’t back him at this line. He hasn’t hit at least nine strikeouts (what he would need to clear this) since the middle of July. Even though he’s facing the Athletics – who are 22nd in strikeout rate – nine is too much to ask.
In his last start, Cease went a full nine innings and only struck out eight batters. He won’t go a full game in consecutive starts, so the UNDER is the right play on this one. – Donnavan Smoot
