Triston McKenzie OVER 5.5 Strikeouts (-135) – Cleveland Guardians vs. Seattle Mariners
You’re going to be hard pressed to find a starting pitcher in MLB hotter than Triston McKenzie, who has a 1.91 ERA since the start of July and is holding opponents to just a .180 batting average in his last nine starts.
McKenzie is coming off a 14-strikeout performance in his last game, and now he faces a Seattle Mariners team that averages 8.52 punch outs per game this season. The Cleveland Guardians righty has cleared this line in six of his last nine starts, and he’s averaging just under a strikeout per inning on the season.
Given his recent form, I think McKenzie is in line for a big strikeout day on Thursday. – Peter Dewey

Aaron Nola OVER 7.5 Strikeouts (-115) - Cincinnati Reds vs. Philadelphia Phillies
I don’t often bet the OVER on strikeout props, but I think we’re in a good spot to take one today.
Aaron Nola hasn’t had many issues surpassing this total in recent starts. He has surpassed this number in four of his last six starts, including his latest outing where he struck out 9 Mets batters in just 5 innings.
Also, the Reds have been one of the best teams to bet against this season when it comes to strikeout props. They have a strikeout rate of 26.2% since July 1st, which is the 2nd highest rate during that time span. Give me the OVER on Nola’s strikeout total tonight! – Iain MacMillan

Jacob deGrom UNDER 9.5 Strikeouts (-118) - New York Mets vs. Colorado Rockies
Just to be clear, I fully expect deGrom to dominate this hapless Rockies lineup away from Coors Field; ranking bottom 5 in the Big Leagues in both weighted on-base-average (wOBA) as well as weighted runs created plus (wRC+).
However, 10-plus strikeouts is almost an automatic fade for me, even with someone like deGrom on the hill.
While he’s averaging an ungodly 14.27 strikeouts per nine innings since returning from the Injured List on August 2nd, the Mets still need to tread lightly with their ace to guarantee his availability come postseason.
New York is a -410 favorite in this game, the heaviest favorite of the entire season. If the Mets get off to a sizable lead, there’s no reason to waste any more bullets out of deGrom than necessary. All of his starts have been against division opponents, the last three of which came vs. the Braves and Phillies; meaningful teams in the NL East.
deGrom will cruise like he almost always does, but banking on 10-plus strikeouts when he won’t need to go too deep is a risk that simply feels unnecessary. – Ben Heisler

Luis Garcia OVER 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-115) – Houston Astros vs. Minnesota Twins
Garcia is playing at home, but I just don’t have a lot of faith in him to show up big today. He’s allowed at least three runs in his last three starts. The Astros have also allowed him to stay on the mound, keeping him out there for at least 5 innings in his last 11 starts. The Twins aren’t on top of their game, but a day against Garcia is just what they need. – Donnavan Smoot
