MLB Playoff Wild Card Series Odds for Every Team to Win
The MLB Playoff seeds are set and so too are the Wild Card matchups. We have some heavy-hitting Wild Card showdowns highlighted by a New York Mets squad many pegged as top World Series contenders squaring off against a San Diego Padres squad that was aggressive at the trade deadline and has two of the best hitters in baseball anchoring their lineup.
Still, the Mets are massive favorites to win the series.
Below you'll find all the Wild Card odds for each team to win the series. Remember, for the first time these Wild Card rounds are three-game series where the home team doesn't change. You'll notice oddsmakers have made all the home teams favorites in these series, but there's sure to be at least one upset. Let's get into with some info on each series included.
Wild Card Series Odds for Every Team
Padres at Mets Odds
- Padres: +164
- Mets: -194
Notes: The Padres actually dominated the season series, going 4-2 against the Mets including taking 2-of-3 at Citi Field, where this game will be played.
More concerning for the Mets, in their four losses they scored a total of 4 runs and were outscored in those games 26-4 overall. Of course, that was back in June and July, and the Mets have added Jacob deGrom to their rotation since. But, despite the wide odds, this will be no cakewalk for New York.
Phillies at Cardinals Odds
- Phillies: +112
- Cardinals -130
Notes: The Phillies went 2-2 in a four-game series in St. Louis in July and were 4-3 against the Cardinals this season.
The Phillies shut out the Cardinals in 3-of-4 wins and only gave up 3 runs in their other win, so pitching is the key component to their success against St. Louis. The Cardinals come into this series struggling against winning teams, going just 3-5 against the Dodgers, Padres and Brewers.
Rays at Guardians Odds
- Rays: +102
- Guardians -120
Notes: These teams squared off just a few weeks ago with the Guardians winning 2-of-3 at home. The big note is all three of the games were one-run affairs, so these are clearly evenly matched teams.
Don't expect a lot of homers in this series as both teams ranked in the bottom 5 of team home runs this year. Rather, this will likely be a pitching series where timely hits will be the difference maker.
Mariners at Blue Jays Odds
- Mariners: +148
- Blue Jays -174
Notes: This was a lopsided series during the regular season with the Mariners winning 5-of-7 including four straight in Toronto.
That was in July before the Blue Jays turned on the jets, but losing four straight at home to a team you're hosting in a three-game set isn't exactly encouraging, especially not when you scored 11 total runs in those four games. What is encouraging for Blue Jays fans is they've been hitting at a much-higher rate in September and October, which is the key to them getting through this series because their pitching remains suspect.
