MLB Power Rankings Based on World Series Odds (Cardinals Surging, Dodgers Remain Class of League)

The St. Louis Cardinals legend has been on fire since the All-Star break, and he's a big reason why the Cards have won seven straight games to open up a significant advantage in the NL Central.

As St. Louis pushes itself into the top of the NL standings, we're seeing an American League team, the New York Yankees, fall off substantially in August with a 5-14 record. Could they be in danger of blowing a double-digit game lead in the AL East?

Every week at BetSided, yours truly shares the latest Power Rankings for MLB in relation to the odds to win the World Series at WynnBET Sportsbook. Let's dive into this week's rankings:

1. Los Angeles Dodgers (+325) Last Week: No. 1

The Dodgers are the unquestioned best team in baseball. They now have a 18-game lead in the NL West, and young starter Dustin May is back from Tommy John.

2. New York Mets (+450) LW: No. 2

The Mets have a little separation (four games) in the NL East, and with Jacob deGrom back they are as dangerous as any team in baseball.

3. Houston Astros (+400) LW: No. 3

Houston may run away with the best record in the American League with the Yankees' season going in the tank this month.

4. Atlanta Braves (+1200) LW: No. 5

The Braves are unfortunately stuck behind the Mets in the division, but they've won eight of 10 and have a series with the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates this week which could help them gain a game or two.

5. New York Yankees (+400) LW: No. 4

You can't go 5-14 in a month and get away with it. The Yankees' offense is nowhere to be found right now, and Frankie Montas has been horrible since being acquired at the deadline.

6. St. Louis Cardinals (+3000) LW: No. 6

The Cardinals may be the best value on the board right now, and they've opened up a five-game lead over Milwaukee in the division.

7. San Diego Padres (+2000) LW: No. 9

The division is out of the question for San Diego, but it could be a frisky wild card team in the NL.

8. Toronto Blue Jays (+2000) LW: No. 7

The Jays have cut the Yankees' lead to eight games, but they are actually behind the Rays now in the AL East entering this week.

9. Tampa Bay Rays (+5000) LW: No. 11

The Rays have won seven of their last 10 games and are just eight games back of the Yankees in the AL East.

10. Seattle Mariners (+2500) LW: No. 11

The Mariners are 11.5 games back of Houston, but if their young core can hold up, they have a legit shot at the top wild card spot in the AL.

11. Cleveland Guardians (+6000) LW: No. 10

The Guardians are clinging to a 1.5-game lead in the AL Central. They seem to be in a good spot to win the division, but matchups with the Twins and White Sox down the stretch will be crucial.

12. Philadelphia Phillies (+3000) LW: No. 8

The Phillies slid a bit in this week's rankings, but they still hold the third wild card spot in the NL.

13. Milwaukee Brewers (+3000) LW: No. 13

The Brewers' decision to sell at the deadline and "still contend" has backfired in a big way with the team falling way out of the NL Central race over the last week.

14. Minnesota Twins (+6000) LW: No. 15

Back-to-back losses this weekend cost Minnesota a chance at reclaiming the lead in the AL Central. It sits 2.5 games out of a wild card spot as well, making the division an easier path.

15. Baltimore Orioles (+10000) LW: No. 14

The Orioles are going to need to play better than .500 ball to close this gap in the wild card race. Still, their World Series odds have gone from +20000 to +10000 over the last week.

16. Chicago White Sox (+5000) LW: No. 16

Chicago still has yet to make a run for the division, and you have to wonder if this team will ever put things together in 2022.

17. San Francisco Giants (+10000) LW: No. 17

What a difference a season makes. One year removed from having the best record in baseball, the Giants are under .500 with 41 games to play.

18. Boston Red Sox (+20000) LW: No. 18

Boston's odds have fallen off a cliff (+10000 to +20000) after despite being six games out of a wild card spot.

19. Texas Rangers (+200000) LW: No. 21

The Rangers have a positive run differential this season, but they lost too many one-run games early in the year, and it's come back to bite them.

20. Arizona Diamondbacks (+200000) LW: No. 19

The D-Backs had something going in the NL West, but three straight losses to end the weekend isn't how you want to enter Power Rankings day.

21. Chicago Cubs (+200000) LW: No. 25

The Cubbies deserve some credit, winning seven of their last 10 games, although it is too little, too late for a playoff run.

22. Los Angeles Angels (+200000) LW: No. 21

The Angels need to go back to the drawing board this coming offseason after absolutely falling apart in 2022.

23. Colorado Rockies (+200000) LW: No. 22

The Rockies' pitching staff has let them down in 2022, and it's a big reason why they have a minus-114 run differential this season.

24. Miami Marlins (+200000) LW: No. 19

Injuries and poor hitting have led to four straight losses and totally taken the Marlins' season off the rails.

25. Kansas City Royals (+200000) LW: No. 24

The Royals have lost eight of their last 10 games, and now have a worst run differential than this next team, the last place Tigers...

26. Detroit Tigers (+200000) LW: No. 25

This has been an unbelievably disappointing season from a Tigers team that looked like it had a chance to make a leap prior to 2022.

27. Cincinnati Reds (+500000) LW: No. 26

After a brutal start to the season, the Reds have at least passed the Pirates in the NL Central.

28. Oakland Athletics (+500000) LW: No. 29

Oakland has some nice young pieces, specifically in the rotation, but it hasn't translated to win in the 2022 season.

29. Pittsburgh Pirates (+200000) LW: No. 28

The Pirates have lost eight of their last 10 and are finally as bad as we thought they'd be this season.

30. Washington Nationals (+500000) LW: No. 30

The Nationals mailed in this season, and the next few after trading away Juan Soto.
