MLB Power Rankings Based on World Series Odds on June 27 (Red Sox Launch Up AL Standings)
By Peter Dewey
What a week it was in Major League Baseball.
Freddie Freeman made his return to Atlanta after leaving in the offseason, the New York Yankees keep finding ways to come back and grab walk-off wins.
However, there were also some tough moments, as the Philadelphia Phillies lost star outfielder Bryce Harper to a broken thumb, and the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels got into a crazy brawl on Sunday afternoon.
And after all of that, we still have some Power Rankings. Every week at BetSided, yours truly shares the latest Power Rankings for MLB in relation to the odds to win the World Series at WynnBET Sportsbook.
Let's jump into where each team stands as the calendar gets ready to flip to July:
1. New York Yankees (+450) Last Week: No. 1
The Yankees' odds keep getting shorter, going from +500 to +450 over the past week. Aaron Judge is the clear frontrunner for AL MVP, and the Yanks salvaged a split with the Houston Astros over the weekend. All is well in the Bronx.
2. New York Mets (+750) LW: No. 2
The Mets still have the second best record in baseball, and Jacob deGrom seems to be inching closer to a rehab assignment. That's huge for the team's playoff outlook.
3. Los Angeles Dodgers (+425) LW: No. 3
The Dodgers have gone up two games on the San Diego Padres by going 7-3 over their last 10 games. The injuries to Mookie Betts and Walker Buehler hurt, but this team is talented enough to stay amongst the league's best until they return.
4. Houston Astros (+650) LW: No. 4
It felt like the Astros dominated most of their series with the Yankees, and they threw a combined no-hitter, but New York came up with timely hits. Still, Houston is as good a bet as anyone to win the AL.
5. San Diego Padres (+1500) LW: No. 5
The top five stays intact this week, as the Padres are one of five teams with 45-plus wins despite dropping back-to-back games over the weekend.
6. Atlanta Braves (+1200) LW: No. 6
The biggest concern for the Braves is the health of Ronald Acuna Jr., who fouled a pitch off his foot this weekend and could land on the IL.
7. Boston Red Sox (+2500) LW: No. 14
Boston is on fire. The Red Sox have won seven straight and are now in second in the AL East. Boston's thrashed its odds to win the World Series as well, going from +4000 to +2500.
8. Milwaukee Brewers (+1600) LW: No. 11
The Brewers are back on track after a brutal start to the month, winning seven of their last 10 and jumping back into the top spot in the NL Central.
9. St. Louis Cardinals (+2000) LW: No. 8
The Cardinals are going to be in the market for a starter at the deadline, as Jack Flaherty left Sunday's start with another shoulder issue.
10. Minnesota Twins (+3000) LW: No. 9
The Twins have weathered a run by the Guardians in the AL Central, and they now have a two-game lead again. Starter Joe Ryan looks like a legit AL ROY candidate.
11. Tampa Bay Rays (+2000) LW: No. 13
The Rays went on a bit of a slide in mid-June, but they are starting to pick things up with three straight wins, pulling them in to third in the division at 40-32.
12. Toronto Blue Jays (+900) LW: No. 7
The Jays have dropped outside the top 10 after losing seven of their last 10 games. Despite all the resources they committed to the pitching staff, the Blue Jays are just 19th in baseball in team ERA.
13. San Francisco Giants (+3000) LW: No. 10
The Giants, like the Blue Jays, have seen the pitching staff (18th in team ERA) take a step back in 2022.
14. Cleveland Guardians (+8000) LW: No. 12
I moved the Guardians way up last week for them to come crashing back down to earth, losing their last four games.
15. Philadelphia Phillies (+3000) LW: No. 15
It's hard not to feel awful for Bryce Harper, who was having another great year before fracturing his thumb. I don't know if the Phillies' offense can sustain itself without him.
16. Chicago White Sox (+2000) LW: No. 16
I keep giving Chicago the benefit of the doubt that it will play better once it's healthy, but the White Sox are starting to run out of time.
17. Baltimore Orioles (+100000) LW: No. 21
This is probably the highest the Orioles will get all year, but they deserve it considering they've won seven of 10 and have as many wins as the Rangers, White Sox and Mariners in a much tougher division.
18. Texas Rangers (+25000) LW: No. 18
The Rangers are in second place in the NL West, but they are underwhelming at the plate, ranking 22nd in baseball in OPS.
19. Los Angeles Angels (+4000) LW: No. 17
The Angels have two of the best players in baseball, and yet they find a new way to lose just about every night. It has to be maddening for their fans.
20. Miami Marlins (+15000) LW: No. 19
The Marlins may have a chance to climb into the playoff picture with Harper out for the Phillies.
21. Seattle Mariners (+9000) LW: No. 23
Maybe the benches clearing brawl on Sunday will wake this Seattle team up after a tough start to the season.
22. Arizona Diamondbacks (+75000) LW: No. 20
The D-Backs' offense is really struggling, ranking 27th in OPS and and 23rd in runs scored in 2022.
23. Colorado Rockies (+100000) LW: No. 22
The Rockies can't buy a win on the road, they are slowly falling into the bottom of the NL standings.
24. Pittsburgh Pirates (+100000) LW: No. 24
The Pirates have lost three straight, but the Cubs and Reds are still behind them in the NL Central. Wild times.
25. Detroit Tigers (+50000) LW: No. 26
The Tigers have still scored the fewest runs in baseball and they actually have a worse run differential than the team with the worst World Series odds, the Kansas City Royals.
26. Chicago Cubs (+100000) LW: No. 26
Credit to the Cubs for playing .500 ball over the past week. However, when you're still behind the Pittsburgh Pirates in your own division, there's only so much you can do to move up in the Power Rankings.
27. Washington Nationals (+150000) LW: No. 27
The Nationals simply can't pitch, posting a team ERA of 5.16, the second worst in baseball.
28. Kansas City Royals (+200000) LW: No. 29
The Royals have the longest odds to win the World Series at WynnBET. I wouldn't be shocked if they are sellers at the trade deadline.
29. Cincinnati Reds (+100000) LW: No. 28
Anddddd they're back. The Reds have lost eight of their last 10 and have killed any momentum they had built up in June.
30. Oakland Athletics (+150000) LW: No. 30
The A's have won two straight games, but they have the worst record and offense in baseball (by OPS). Now, they have to face the Yankees in New York to open this week.
