New York baseball looked to be the class of the sport earlier this season, but with the New York Yankees recent slump and the Atlanta Braves' winning streak, the Yankees and New York Mets are in danger of falling into the wild card in 2022.

The Yankees have seen their once double-digit lead in the division whittled down to just five games following a win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Mets have just a one-game advantage on the Braves, despite sporting the third-best record in all of baseball.

Falling into the wild card would be brutal for both teams, but there are others who would stand to benefit, such as anyone with a Rays to win the AL East ticket. With a month left in the 2022 regular season, there is still a ton up for grabs in the playoff races in each league.

Every week at BetSided, yours truly shares the latest Power Rankings for MLB in relation to the odds to win the World Series at WynnBET Sportsbook. Let's dive into this week's rankings:

1. Los Angeles Dodgers (+325) Last Week: No. 1

The Dodgers are 51 games over .500 and an absolute no-brainer for the top spot in our Power Rankings once again.

2. Houston Astros (+400) LW: No. 3

Even though the Seattle Mariners have won seven straight, the Astros have played well enough to still hold a seven-game lead in the AL West.

3. New York Mets (+450) LW: No. 2

The Mets are clinging to the division lead with the Braves playing great, and their series against Atlanta in late September could decide the division.

4. Atlanta Braves (+1200) LW: No. 4

The defending champs are inching closer to another division title, which would set them up well to defend their title.

5. St. Louis Cardinals (+2500) LW: No. 5

The Cardinals keep hitting the cover off the ball, and they now have an 8.5-game lead in the NL Central.

6. New York Yankees (+400) LW: No. 5

The Yankees are one of the worst offenses in baseball over the last month. Without Aaron Judge, one has to wonder if they'd even be a playoff team.

7. Tampa Bay Rays (+4000) LW: No. 7

The Rays cut the Yankees' lead all the way down to four games, and they are certainly in play to win the AL East in 2022.

8. Seattle Mariners (+2500) LW: No. 8

Seattle is playing some great baseball right now, winning seven in a row and nine of its last 10.

9. Toronto Blue Jays (+2000) LW: No. 11

The Jays are winners of three straight games and just one game back of Tampa in the wild card race.

10. San Diego Padres (+2000) LW: No. 9

San Diego is likely going to make the playoffs, but I'm not sure that this team is a World Series contender, even with Juan Soto on the roster.

11. Minnesota Twins (+6000) LW: No. 13

Here come the Twins! Minnesota has taken advantage of the Cleveland Guardians' losing streak to tie them atop the AL Central.

12. Philadelphia Phillies (+3000) LW: No. 10

The Phillies have a small cushion for the No. 3 wild card spot in the NL, but they keep going through these up-and-down stretches that cost them any chance of making up some real ground.

13. Cleveland Guardians (+4000) LW: No. 12

The Guardians have lost five straight, and even though their odds suggest they'll be in the postseason, they have a worse record than four of the five teams in the AL East.

14. Milwaukee Brewers (+3000) LW: No. 14

The Brewers are entirely too high on the odds list for a team that would be out of the playoffs if the season ended today.

15. Baltimore Orioles (+10000) LW: No. 15

Baltimore would be winning the AL Central and is just 2.5 games out of a wild card spot. This team is way ahead of schedule in its rebuild.

16. Chicago White Sox (+7500) LW: No. 16

If the White Sox make the postseason, it's almost certainly going to come from a division win as they sit 7 games back in the wild card race.

17. Boston Red Sox (+20000) LW: No. 18

Boston has won five straight and is starting to show some life at the plate, ranking in the top 10 in OPS over the last month.

18. San Francisco Giants (+20000) LW: No. 17

Oddsmakers may be officially done with San Francisco, dropping its World Series odds from +10000 to +20000.

19. Arizona Diamondbacks (+200000) LW: No. 19

Credit to the D-Backs for not mailing this season in, as they've won eight of their last 10 and have seen some of their top prospects shine in the process.

20. Los Angeles Angels (+200000) LW: No. 22

If the Angels can't win with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, I'm not sure how they're going to turn this franchise around.

21. Colorado Rockies (+200000) LW: No. 23

Until the Rockies fix their pitching staff (29th in team ERA this season), they're going to struggle to make the playoffs.

22. Chicago Cubs (+200000) LW: No. 21

The Cubs are just 2-8 in their last 10 games and have fallen behind Colorado in the NL.

23. Texas Rangers (+200000) LW: No. 20

The Rangers have lost eight straight and are dead last in team ERA over the past few weeks at 5.92.

24. Miami Marlins (+200000) LW: No. 24

Make it seven straight losses for a Marlins team that went in the tank following a few injuries this summer.

25. Kansas City Royals (+200000) LW: No. 24

The Royals have a few bright young players on their roster, but this team has been among the league's worst for several seasons now.

26. Cincinnati Reds (+500000) LW: No. 26

I definitely don't feel good about the Reds at 26 considering they openly tanked this season, but their bad was better than some other teams that were actually trying.

27. Detroit Tigers (+200000) LW: No. 26

Detroit's terrible offense held it back all season long.

28. Oakland Athletics (+500000) LW: No. 28

The A's are at least giving their young guys a chance to see what they have entering the 2023 season.

29. Pittsburgh Pirates (+200000) LW: No. 29

Pittsburgh isn't going down without a fight for the worst record in baseball, losing four straight and sitting at just 49 wins on the season.

30. Washington Nationals (+500000) LW: No. 30

The Nationals are almost assuredly going to finish with 100-plus losses in 2022.
