It's all hands on deck for Game 5 of the American League Division Series tonight when the Cleveland Guardians face the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Cleveland had a chance to end the ALDS with a 2-1 lead heading into Game 4 Sunday night, but Yankees ace Gerrit Cole pitched a gem, allowing just the two runs through seven innings and striking out eight Guardians batters in New York's 4-2 victory. Cole is now 2-0 this postseason with a 2.03 ERA.

Meanwhile, after not losing a game the entire second half of the season, Guardians starter Cal Quantrill fell to 0-2 in the postseason with a 5.40 ERA. He didn't pitch poorly, giving up three earned runs through five innings, but that ended up being the difference in the game.

With the series headed back to the Bronx, let's take a look at tonight's probable pitching matchup for Game 5, along with the latest odds, run line and total for tonight.

Guardians vs. Yankees Probable Pitchers

  • Guardians: Aaron Civale - RHP (5-6, 4.92 ERA)
  • Yankees: Jameson Taillon - RHP (14-5, 3.91 ERA)

In a do-or-die matchup, both teams are forced to turn to pitchers who have never started a postseason game as a result of Thursday's game being rained out in New York.

Jameson Taillon currently enters the matchup with an ERA of, wait for it, infinity this postseason. The veteran right-hander pitched in the 10th inning of Game 2 in New York, allowing two earned runs on three hits without recording an out in Cleveland's 4-2 victory.

He's opposed by right-hander Aaron Civale of the Guardians, who was anything but impressive this season. However, down the final stretch of September and October, he was at his best; going 3-0 record with a 3.27 ERA, 23 strikeouts and just two walks in his final four starts. Civale has yet to pitch in the postseason after being left off Cleveland's American League wild card roster.
