For many people my age, summer has officially come to an end. Sure the usual unofficial end of summer is Labor Day, but for me it’s the first day of classes. I’ll have to head back onto campus for my fourth and final year and sit through a boring class where they explain the syllabus and almost certainly will not be talking about betting on baseball.

So, to pass the time, why not bet on an afternoon underdog to pass the time? I can’t think of a better way to get through class than hitting on a plus-money bet.

Let’s take a look at the odds from our friends at WynnBET for this underdog in the AL Central.

White Sox vs. Royals Odds, Run Line and Total

Run Line

  • White Sox -1.5 (+110)
  • Royals +1.5 (-130)

Moneyline

  • White Sox -146
  • Royals +136

Total

  • 8.0 (Over -105 / Under -115)

Best Underdog Pick Today

Baseball is such a peculiar sport, mostly because of the sheer amount of games played in a season. It makes for some curious baseball specific stats that pop up throughout the year. Trends that we see develop that would be rare or impossible in other sports. That brings us to the Chicago White Sox and their struggles following a win on the road.

Maybe Tony La Russa is letting the team have a little too much fun in other cities after a win, maybe he’s just really old and not a very good manager anymore. Either way, the White Sox cannot string wins together this year. That’s a big reason they find themselves at 62-59 after coming into the season with very high hopes.

Chicago is coming off a win in Cleveland before heading to Kansas City for one quick game. Prior to that, their last road win was against KC and they promptly lost the next two games against the Royals. Despite being 49-74, KC actually leads the season series with Chicago, 8-7, and will make it nine wins over their division rival today.

Pick: Royals +136
