The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to be a very tough team to pin down. Some nights they look like the worst team in the NL West while others they look like they could actually make a run at the division. The NL West run might be an exaggeration, but you get the point.

There are a lot of ups and downs when looking over Arizona’s recent results. One thing's for sure. The Dodgers have had their number so far this year with a four-game sweep last week. So why would I think that Arizona can get some sweet revenge tonight? Let’s dive in and make a bold pick.

Run Line

  • Dodgers: -1.5 (-120)
  • Diamondbacks: +1.5 (+100)

Moneyline:

  • Dodgers: -177
  • Diamondbacks: +162

Total:

  • Total 9.5 (Over -105/Under -115)

Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks Prediction and Pick

As is often the case with these games, it all comes down to starting pitching. And this is why I think the Dodgers are in a good spot to fade. Mitch White will toe the rubber tonight for the Dodgers and don’t have a ton of faith in the 27-year-old fireballer. First of all, he is just a “starter” which means that the bullpen will be forced to carry this game. I am not a fan of this tactic in general. Additionally, even though he only pitches a few innings per game, his ERA in May is 9.82. The Diamondbacks, are a part of that ERA and scored two runs on him during a 1 ⅓ inning appearance two weeks back. Technically this is White’s second start of the year but he has not been all that effective out of the bullpen either.

On the flip side, the Diamondbacks are calling on Humberto Castellanos to keep their modest two-game win streak going. This will be the first time that the Dodgers see Castellanos this year. While he is no ace pitcher, he is at least a natural starter. He will eat around six innings and probably hold the Dodgers to three or fewer runs. At these odds, I think it is well worth a shot to take the Diamondbacks to hand the Dodgers their second upset loss in a row.

Pick: Diamondbacks +162 to win
