The playoff race is heating up across Major League Baseball, but in the AL Central it looks more like a three-legged race at an un-athletic family's Labor Day barbecue. The Cleveland Guardians, Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox are tripping and falling all over each other, but one of them ultimately has to make the postseason.

Meanwhile today’s underdog has been playing solid baseball lately within their division.

Who's got the edge at plus-odds this Labor Day? Here's the odds for tonight's top dog of the day over at FanDuel Sportsbook:

Guardians vs. Royals Odds, Run Line and Spread

Spread:

  • Guardians -134
  • Royals +114

Moneyline:

  • Guardians -1.5 (+126)
  • Royals +1.5 (-152)

Total:

  • 7.5 (OVER +100 | UNDER -125)

Best MLB Underdog Pick Today

Brady Singer is on the mound today for Kansas City and despite a tough outing in his last start, he has been pitching like an ace for much of his third season in the majors. He has a 3.33 ERA, but a 2.53 ERA since July 1. Since then he has almost 10 strikeouts per nine innings and under three walks per nine.

However, pitching isn’t the reason for this pick, it’s the offense. The Royals are third in the league in OPS over the past 15 days and are sixth in runs, despite only playing 12 games in that 15 day stretch. The Guardians also played 12 games in those 15 days and have scored 42 less runs. Cleveland’s offense is the worst in the MLB right now, 29th in OPS and 30th in runs.

The Royals are playing much better than the Guardians right now as Cleveland has lost five straight games. I say ride with Brady Singer and the Royals offense on Labor Day.

PICK: Royals +114
