AL East rivals collide when the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays continue their three-game series at Rogers Centre. The Yankees continued their domination of the league last night when they crushed the Blue Jays 12-3. It was their eighth win in a row and 15th in their last 16 games. With a 46-16 record heading into this game, the Yankees hold a commanding lead in the division with an 11-game buffer between themselves and The Blue Jays. New York leads the league in wins after posting a winning record of .750 through 64 games.

The Blue Jays are favored in Game 2 of this series, and for the life of me I can’t figure out why. Let’s dive in and try to figure this one out.

Here are the odds for this showdown from WynnBET Sportsbook:

Yankees vs. Blue Jays Odds, Run Line, and Total

Run Line

  • Yankees: +1.5 (-195)
  • Blue Jays: -1.5 (+160)

Moneyline:

  • Yankees: +120
  • Blue Jays: -130

Total:

  • Total 8.5 (Over -105/Under -115)

Best MLB Underdog Pick Today

Alex Manoah has been the most consistent player on this entire team and gives the Blue Jays their best chance to win. He enters this game at 8-1 with a 1.67 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Manoah hasn’t given up an earned run in his last two starts or a single home run in June. This is a big deal against the Yankees who lead the league with 105 home runs through 64 games. Manoah has a shot to keep things in check with a .161 batting average against the current Yankees lineup. Perhaps more importantly, he’s only given up one lifetime home run to this team.

While all that makes Manoah a solid bet most days, I don’t know if he, or anyone, can slow down the Yankees right now. Furthermore, New York doesn’t have a slouch on the mound with Jameson Taillon taking the start today. Taillon is 7-1 with a 2.93 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 67 ⅔ innings. He’s been fantastic so far and is 2-0 in three starts against the Blue Jays already this season.

Let’s review. We have the hottest team in baseball crushing teams left and right -- including the Blue Jays last night. They are 9-1 in their last 10 games and dominating teams on the mound and at the plate. Now, I don’t expect them to score 12 runs with Manoah pitching today. But, I will not pass up a chance to bet on the best team in the league as money line underdogs with one of their best arms on the hill.

Pick: Yankees (+120) ML
